Update 02/04/2021 12:44pm:

Nelly made a recent appearance on St. Louis radio show, "What Up Doe," to defend himself after Ali accused him of abandoning the St. Lunatics and leaving them feeling like they got "hustled." Ali also claimed that he wrote Nelly's rhymes. Nelly denied Ali's claims and stated that the St. Lunatics member wasn't even an original member.

"There's three people in this group that's been a lunatic since day one: Nelly, Kyjuan, and City [Spud]," Nelly began at the 5:40 mark. "We all went to school together. Alright? Cool. When we first started the Lunatics, Ali was not in this group. Stop me when I'm lying."

The rapper said Ali and two others started out as managers before further explaining the group's beginnings.

"When they said the Lunatics was doing all the legwork and talent shows and all of that, that was us. He didn't do that," Nelly continued. "When we was going around town making a name for ourselves, doing the car wash, performing at the talent shows at [colleges], that was us, that wasn't Ali. Ali did not perform with us. Either he thought he was too good or he didn't perform with us. Either way, he did not perform with us. Just factuals. Actual factuals."

Nelly also claimed that when Jive Records hosted a showcase, Ali chose to perform with another artist "that worked at the barbershop" instead of the St. Lunatics. Despite that, Jive expressed interest in the group but wanted to hear more music.

In order to get free studio time, Nelly said the group signed a deal with a local production company and at that point, Ali became an official member. As the group worked together, Ali came up with "Gimme What Ya Got," which gave St. Lunatics more buzz.

Ali claimed that he had to fight the record company for Nelly's verse to stay on the song but Nelly argued that the company wanted him off of the song because he hadn't signed the contract with the production company. Nelly claimed he was under the impression that the group would sign together and was unaware that a deal had already been made without him.

"Ali done got everybody to sign but me," he said. "My back against the wall. I ain't got no leverage."

Not long after, Mase's manager Cudda expressed interest in Nelly and flew him out to New York to record some solo songs. Nelly admitted that the decision to go to New York didn't sit well with the group but added that he made sure the St. Lunatics were included when he was presented with a record deal.

However, the group met with Nelly after the album was finished to tell him they wanted their verses removed if they weren't paid. After pleading with the label, the group members were paid but it was taken out of Nelly's budget. Nelly continued by listing the group's successes before Ali's departure. St. Lunatics member Ali aired out his grievances against Nelly on Instagram, accusing the "Country Grammar" rapper of deserting the St. Lunatics in order to advance his own career. Ali posted a video of Nelly referring to himself as an original hustler, prompting Ali to give a history lesson on St. Lunatics.

"Them: 'Ali, you're being childish.., why are you putting it on social media Ali, Nelly's not saying anything he's staying positive.'

Me: Nah, he's just the type to throw a rock and hide his hand!! I throw mine... and say 'yeah I did it.'

Nelly: 'The Original hustlers since day one...KNOW THAT'...ALWAYS !!

This is PERFECT because I've been explaining to Murph, Kyjuan and slo that this was the 'ORIGINAL Hustle' ...They heard me talking yet didn't quite understand.....this officially connected the dots," Ali wrote in the caption.

In the caption, Ali continued by explaining that he started the St. Lunatics in 1993 and taught the members how to write rhymes. He added that, in 1997, he refused the record label's request to remove Nelly's verse from his single, "Gimme What You Got." After the success of the single, Ali claimed he was offered "a big bag" record deal but turned it down because the offer didn't include the other group members.

"Fast forward 1999: Ma$e Manager at the time(Cudda)...was introduced to us...and he immediately started separating the group," Ali claimed. "He wanted Nelly and City spud. They left with Cudda (went to Harlem).....The separation became The reality...They had left!!! We (The rest of the group) felt 'HUSTLED'....we were *1 until, The opportunity was presented to be *2..they hustled us!!"

Ali said that after Nelly signed his deal with Universal Music, Nelly's manager called him and told him Nelly no longer needed his help writing songs.

"So you need me to get you here, but now that you're here ....'I don’t need you anymore'!!" Ali continued. "I said ok, i'll stay here and I won't help him write!! Some kind of way I ended up going...I ended up helping him write...but got no credit!! Wow!! I got hustled!!"

Ali continued in the comments section by explaining why he ultimately discontinued his rap career, stating that being Nelly's hype man no longer satisfied his personal career goals. Nelly has not responded to Ali's post.
