Recently, the Department of Justice revealed that new charges were brought against a U.S. Capitol rioter, who allegedly threatened to assassinate New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Reports noted that Texas resident Garret Miller posted death threats geared at AOC on the day of the insurrection, including a tweet that said, “Assassinate AOC.” The FBI reportedly received a referral from law enforcement about a video posted on Miller’s suspended Twitter account showing the man inside the U.S. Capitol building.

AOC has spoken on the incident following the arrest of Miller, saying “On one hand you have to laugh, and on the other know that the reason they were this brazen is because they thought they were going to succeed." Miller is currently in federal custody and being charged with unlawfully entering a federal building, obstructing an official proceeding, and disorderly conduct. Stay tuned for more updates.
