According to reports, a California resident was arrested after living inside Chicago O'Hare Airport for three months before detection. Aditya Singh, 36, told authorities he feared flying back home due to the pandemic.

Assistant State’s Attorney Kathleen Hagerty told reporters Singh used an airport employee's credentials he found to remain inside and managed to eat “largely from other passengers giving him food.” Singh was only arrested after two workers in Terminal 3 confronted the man about his credentials. During the course of the confrontation, Singh admitted to taking the ID and was subsequently arrested.

Singh, who has no priors, was charged with felony criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport and misdemeanor theft. “The court finds these facts and circumstances quite shocking for the alleged period of time that this occurred,” said Cook County Judge Susana Ortiz. “Being in a secured part of the airport under a fake ID badge allegedly, based upon the need for airports to be absolutely secure so that people feel safe to travel, I do find those alleged actions do make him a danger to the community.”

Singh's bail was set at $10,000 and he will be forced to remain in Chicago until after the trial. If he is released from jail before trial, Singh will have to wear an electronic monitoring device.
