In this clip, John Salley responds to Vlad asking why he thinks that artists usually make their best music at the start of the career, not afterward, when they have a lot more experience and information. John explained that he thinks that hunger and desperation have a lot to do with it, and he added that a lot of artists put their whole life into their first album and the gimmicks usually follow. From there, John also spoke about artists not having the same values and more responsibilities as they get older. John then stated that the "machine" wants greats artists and athletes to fight with one another, which you can hear more about above.
