President-Elect Joe Biden released the details for his incoming administration's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief plan. The package includes beefed-up unemployment support, rental assistance, eviction moratorium, funds for child care and child tax credits, assistance for small businesses and schools, and more support for vaccines and testing. Most importantly, the bill includes $1,400 direct payments to Americans.

“While Congress’s bipartisan action in December was a step in the right direction, it was only a down payment. It fell far short of the resources needed to tackle the immediate crisis,” according to the statement released along with the details of the plan. “We are in a race against time, and absent additional government assistance, the economic and public health crises could worsen in the months ahead.”
