A source on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 says Tom Cruise has followed up last month's COVID-19 tirade by buying two state-of-the-art robots to patrol the set and ensure staff is following coronavirus safety protocols.
"Tom is so serious about making sure the shoot isn't shut down that he's splashed out on these robots as he can't be everywhere to ensure people are behaving themselves," the source said. "The robots are really sophisticated and rather intimidating. It's like the Terminator only not as violent."
The source also claimed the expensive robots can administer on-the-spot tests to staff.
The report comes a month after audio leaked of Cruise berating crew members for violating safety measures. Five crew members were said to have quit as a result of the incident.
"Yes, the rant that came out last month may have been a bit over the top, but he was right, and those who saw the story sympathized with him," the source claimed. "He gets paid a lot for these films but he also knows that he is lucky to be working and staff on the film from top to bottom rely on this film going ahead."
Filming for the next Mission: Impossible picks back up in the U.K. later this week before continuing in Dubai.
