Vic Mensa announced on Instagram Monday that his nonprofit, SaveMoneySaveLife, was robbed of $40,000 worth of donated goods on New Year's Eve. Items stolen included personal protective equipment, shoes, medical supplies, jackets, and other winter clothes for the homeless.

The Chicago artist shared a photo of the building vandalized along with a video message claiming that the organization was set up.

"On New Year's Eve the entire donation inventory for my non-profit @savemoneysavelife was robbed," Mensa wrote in the caption. "I founded the organization in 2018 to help the city I call home and since then we've donated 100,000+ pounds of food, over 50,000 pairs of shoes, and countless PPE supplies since the dawn of the pandemic. Sadly, we were set up and someone brought a truck to our Southside chicago location and cleaned us out of over $40,000 worth of brand new shoes, Still, I want to thank everyone who has supported us thus far. Donation links are in my bio."

Mensa founded SaveMoneySaveLife three years ago to help provide essential items for Chicago residents in need. This past November, the foundation hosted a "sleep-out" with Covenant House, where Mensa was required to sleep on the street. The live-streamed event helped raise over $15,000 to assist Chicago's homeless youth and Covenant House. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Mensa has hosted over 50 charitable events.

To assist the nonprofit with recouping its losses, donation links can be found on Vic Mensa's Instagram page.
