According to reports, six inmates are now on the run in California after the men reportedly made a rope using bedsheets and climbed down the side of the building where they were being held.
The Merced County Sheriff’s office revealed that they discovered six prisoners were missing from their cells right before midnight this past Sunday. It was noted the men gained access to the roof and scaled 20 feet down the side of the building, using bedsheets they tied together. A task force is currently looking for the six men, who range from ages 19 to 22, and were charged with felonies that include attempted murder and murder.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke issued a statement saying “They used that makeshift rope out of braided sheets and were able to come down of the side of that building. We do have officers walking up and down the cell blocks, but we are no longer allowed to wake them up because they deemed it necessary for them to have a whole night's sleep.” Stay tuned for more details.
