According to senior administration officials at the White House, Trump reportedly went “ballistic” after his Twitter account was banned by the platform. The banning reportedly stems from the U.S. Capitol building riots that resulted in the deaths of numerous people. It was noted that the possibility of Trump using his last 12 days in the presidency to incite violence was a reason.
The senior administration official spoke to Politico and also said that Trump was “scrambling to figure out what his options are.” A statement was issued by the White House, and they said Trump was “negotiating with various other sites,” and they plan to “also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future.”
Another White House official said there plans for Trump to also do a “last farewell interview,” but noted they didn’t know if the interview would “come to fruition.”
