The Louisville Police Department is moving to fire two officers connected to the killing of Breonna Taylor during a raid at her apartment in March. According to the lawyers for Detective Joshua Jaynes, who wrote the search warrant, and Detective Myles Cosgrove, who fired his weapon at the scene, the two men received pre-termination notices Tuesday (December 29) evening.

This comes after a grand jury indicted former Detective Brett Hankison in September on three counts of wanton endangerment for firing into Taylor’s neighbor’s apartment during the raid. Hankison pleaded not guilty to the charges, and he was fired from the police department in June, which he is currently contesting.

Jaynes is accused of being dishonest in the search warrant application, which his lawyer, Thomas Clay, is contesting. Clay responded to the situation, stating, "He did nothing wrong. I scrutinized the search warrant affidavit." A lawyer for Cosgrove hasn't commented on the grounds for termination. Per their police officers union contract, both men will have a chance to contest the terminations.
