High-ranking Latin Kings member Hector Vega, aka "King Demon," 34, was sentenced by 18 months in prison and three years of supervised release in his federal racketeering trial this week.

In December 2019, a federal grand jury indicted 62 Latin Kings leaders, alleging racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy, and firearms charges. Vega is the tenth defendant to be sentenced in the case.

Vega pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity, more commonly referred to as RICO conspiracy. In addition to being a member of the Latin Kings in Connecticut, Vega also held a position in the Connecticut "Crown Council," which governed members of the gang in the state.

Recordings of Vega presiding over a Latin Kings "trial" against two Massachusetts members of the Latin Kings were presented in his case. The recording featured Vega ordering both victims in the trial to be beaten for violating Latin Kings' rules, which was captured on video. Vega was seen joining in on the beating of one of the victims.
