According to reports, a father and son died after a dispute over dogs turned fatal. Authorities say Nicholas Coker, 32, began firing at his father's dogs after one of them got overly aggressive with his girlfriend's child. Of the four dogs wounded by Nicholas, two of them died —one was his, and the other was his father’s.

The chief investigator Blake Richardson told reporters, “His brother said, ‘Dad is going to be upset that you killed his dog,’ and Nicholas allegedly pointed the shotgun at his brother and using choice language, more or less told him to get off his property or he would kill him.”

That's when Kelvin James Coker, 60, arrived at the home. Nicholas pointed the shotgun at his father, who was seated in his truck. Kelvin reached for his handgun and fired a shot at Nicholas, striking him in the torso. Nicholas managed to fire a shot at Kelvin, striking him in the neck. Both men died at the scene.

Kelvin Coker was charged with attempted murder back in 2012 after shooting one of his other sons three times in the arm.
