After surviving a near-death experience during a home invasion, Young Buck started focusing more on his music career. When explaining how he ended up on the "M.E.M.P.H.I.S"  record with Three 6 Mafia and Project Pat, Buck said his relationship with DJ Paul started during his time with Cash Money when Birdman had him rap in front of the producer. According to Buck, DJ Paul sent Project Pat to pick him up after his home invasion incident and he nearly signed to Three 6 Mafia's record label. Buck added that DJ Paul is still one of his closest mentors and hinted at a possible collaboration with the Three 6 Mafia co-founder.
