According to NBA insider Ben Dowsett, the league will not subject players to drug testing for marijuana for the upcoming season. With this move, the NBA will stay on the same policy track as last season in the Disney bubble. However, Dowsett pointed out that the league hasn't entirely suspended the process. There is an important caveat for certain players in the league:

"Important clarification here, per source: The NBA's random marijuana testing program will not run for 20-21, as reported below. However, testing FOR CAUSE - that is, past offenders or those who have given reasonable cause to suspect use - will continue."

This is certainly welcome news for the 420 enthusiasts in the NBA not on the league's radar. Cannabis advocates and former NBA hoopers Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson reacted to the news thanking Adam Silver for listening to the players and the research; while telling the players, they should be thanking them.
