A Russian late-night political satire show Mezhdunarodnaya Pilorama [International Saw-Panorama] has come under fire for having an actress don blackface and act out a racist caracatiure to impersonate Barack Obama.
During the show, host Tigran Keosayan cuts to an interview with "Obama," who is featured wearing a red bandana, chains, and an oversized t-shirt. Keosayan reportedly says, "We now go live to the dark side of America's history, Barack Obama," during the clip.
The actress makes some exaggerated hand gestures and sings lines from a song before stating, "Black Lives Matter." Keosayan then interrupts, stating, "Can you please stop shouting? We don't have racism. You could be taken for a gypsy." When the host asks the actress portraying Obama if he considers his new book an achievement, the actress agrees and adds, "None of my relatives that came before me could write."
