The death of Nipsey Hussle has found many still mourning the loss, while others have reportedly taken to social media to air out their opinions, including LAPD officers. One officer, in particular, Sgt. Joel Sydanmaa took to Facebook and made disparaging remarks about Nipsey, Muslims, and sexual assault victims. Since then, the officer was disciplined for his remarks. Now, the officer is suing the LAPD, according to reports.

Sydanmaa claims the punishment was issued to him because of his opinions about Nipsey Hussle, Brett Kavanaugh being appointed to U.S. Supreme Court despite sexual assault allegations, and comments on Muslims “run counter” to the “preferred political stance” of the LAPD.

As of now, Sydanmaa is asking for an injunction from the court to prevent the LAPD from being able to control his online political speech. Along with that, the officer is looking for an unspecified amount of compensation and damages for what the LAPD has done to him already. Stay tuned for more details.
