The NFL has been continuing to make gestures to show solidarity with Black employees and players, and now the league has revealed they put a crew of Black referees together to honor the contributions of Black officials. The gesture is in celebration of the NFL’s 100 year anniversary, and the referees are reportedly set to officiate ‘Monday Night Football’ for the Buccaneers vs. Rams game in Tampa Bay.

Seven officials will be included in the crew, and will feature 17-year vet Jerome Boger, along with back judge Greg Steed, field judge Dale Shaw, line judge Carl Johnson, down judge Julian Mapp, and umpire Barry Anderson.

NFL executive VP of Football Operations Troy Vincent said “This historic Week 11 crew is a testament to the countless and immeasurable contributions of Black officials to the game, their exemplary performance, and to the power of inclusion that is the hallmark of this great game.”
