Daytime talk show host Jeannie Mai was forced to leave Dancing With The Stars after she was hospitalized with epiglottitis, a rare condition where the tissue in the windpipe becomes inflamed, blocking airflow to the lungs.

"It saddens me that I will not be able to continue with the competition on 'DWTS,'" Mai said in a statement. "My doctors discovered a health concern with my throat which requires immediate attention and surgery. I am heartbroken that my 'DWTS' journey has to end here. The last several weeks have been an amazing learning experience. I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we've come. I can't thank my partner Brandon enough for being so supportive and believing in me. I also want to thank MAI fans who voted every week and I wish everyone else in the competition the best of luck!"

Mai previously made headlines when speaking about the type of wife she plans to be to her fiancé, Jeezy. Her comments sparked much debate when she said she wanted to be a submissive wife.

"I'm a very dominant woman," Mai explained. "I own my business, I lead my teams, I played my own manager, my own publicist, my own lawyer when I didn't have money to have those people. So, I make the decisions in my life. When I come home, I like the idea that my man leads us."
