21-year-old Anthony Williams was linked to several shootings this year, and federal investigators announced on Tuesday (October 20) that he was linked to the fatal drive-by shooting of Hassan Brown, a person-of-interest in the May 2020 murder of Williams' friend, rapper KJ Balla.
Williams wasn't charged in the June 19 murder of Brown, but surveillance showed him driving the same blue sedan that pulled up alongside a car Brown was in that opened fire. The same blue sedan was found the day after the shooting, burned to a crisp near JFK airport.
While Williams wasn't charged in the killing of Brown, he was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition in connection with a non-fatal incident on June 17, where two men were shot in the back in East New York.
In addition to the June 17 shooting, prosecutors claim Williams was involved in a May 23 shooting, where he opened fire on a group of men standing outside of an East New York bodega. Prosecutors declined to confirm whether or not the May 23 shooting was a retaliatory attack for KJ Balla’s killing the day before.
On Tuesday, Williams was ordered held without bail on the weapons possession charges. He could apply for bail at a future date.
