Jennifer Lopez recently released a song with Spanish pop star Maluma and is now facing backlash for lyrics in the song.

On the track “Lonely,” J. Lo reportedly referred to herself as Black, saying “tu Negrita del Bronx,” which translates to “I’ll always be your black girl from the Bronx.” The video for the song was released in September 2020, but the clip of Lopez singing the lyric has gone viral due to Lopez’s lack of claiming to be Black in the past. Fans and critics of the singer have taken to social media to call out Lopez, with many citing her using the n-word on her and Ja Rule’s “I’m Real” remix. Take a look above.
