The debate over whether Lupe Fiasco is a better lyricist than Kendrick Lamar has caused a stir but Lupe isn't backing down from his remarks. However, in a series of now-deleted tweets, Lupe clarified his stance and expressed that while he believes himself to be the greater lyricist, K-Dot is the better artist and makes better songs.

"In my own words...once again for you b*tches...I love me some KDot...always have always will," tweeted Lupe. "With that said do think I he’s a good lyricist? Yes. Do I think he’s the best lyricist? No. Do I think it’s lyricists that are better than him? Yes. Is he a better artist than me? Yes. Is he a better lyricist than me? No. Does he make better songs than me? Yes. Did I think control was ridicule? No. Am I jealous of Kdot? No. Did I personally give him his props in chicago on stage as the next n*gga to take the crown? YES. Is It on camera? Yes. Did I mean it? Yes."

Lupe concluded by noting that "TDE is my favorite rap label. Bye."

On Sunday, Lupe Fiasco reignited the debate between himself and Kendrick Lamar. Lupe responded to a tweet asking whether he or Kendrick Lamar was a better lyricist with a simple response that read, "Lupe but...," before deleting the post.

However, Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence "Punch" Henderson caught Lupe's comment and simply replied, "Lol."

This isn't the first time Lupe Fiasco has challenged Kendrick Lamar as a lyricist. In 2018, the Chicago rapper was more descriptive in his thoughts on Lamar's lyrical capability when a fan asked him a question about Logic and Kendrick Lamar during a Twitter Q&A.

"I’ll put it to you like this," Lupe started. "K. Dot is not a top tier lyricist to me and my standards when it comes to punchlines and bars. His overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don’t see it."

Weeks later, he apologized for his comments and vowed to not speak on rappers' careers again. Check out Lupe and Punch's tweets above.
