Recently, Eddie Murphy received his first Primetime Emmy for previously hosting ‘Saturday Night Live.” The actor caught the win in the “Guest Actor Comedy Series” category.

The win for Murphy stems from the comeback episode for the former SNL cast member, who hadn’t appeared on the show in 35 years. Murphy was previously nominated for multiple Emmys but never was able to land any.

Murphy delivered a pre-recorded speech for his win, saying, “Thank you to everybody at the Emmys. Thank you so much for giving me an Emmy. I don’t have an Emmy. This is 40 years since I started Saturday Night Live, this is my first Emmy, so thank you so much.” Murphy pointed out how he was happy about the outcome of returning to SNL after his 35-year hiatus from the show, saying, “This was a very, very special thing for me to come back and have the show turn out the way it did. I’m still floating from it. And thank you to everybody for giving me an Emmy.” Watch above.
