However, the Clippers came up short in Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets and missed an opportunity to compete against the Lakers for the Western Conference crown. The loss drummed up commentary from scores of people on social media, one such person being Magic Johnson.
"The Clippers choked again. They choked against Houston in 2015 and they choked tonight against the Denver Nuggets," Magic tweeted. Johnson, like many others, was expecting the Clippers to make it to the conference finals. He tweeted just six days ago about how excited he was to see an all-LA Western Conference Final fully expecting the Clippers to finish the job.
