Update 08/28/2020 5:31pm:

Jacob Blake is no longer handcuffed to his hospital according to his family's attorney, Patrick Cafferty.

Police revealed that Blake had been wanted on previous felony warrants and that it's their policy to restrain people accused of felonies while in custody, regardless of if they're hospitalized or not.

Blake was wanted on previous felony warrants, including third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor criminal trespassing, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Law enforcement said the hospital watch was discontinued immediately after Blake posted bond for the warrant.

The Chicago-Sun Times reports that Jacob Blake's father said his 29-year-old son was handcuffed to the hospital bed when he visited him on Wednesday. “I hate it that he was laying in that bed with the handcuff onto the bed,” said Jacob Blake Sr. “He can’t go anywhere. Why do you have him cuffed to the bed?”

The older Blake questioned why his son was arrested and revealed that the Kenosha Police Department, Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office, and Wisconsin Department of Justice did not offer any information regarding the arrest.

During a press conference on Thursday, Wisconsin governor Tony Evers said "hell yes," when asked if he was concerned about Blake being handcuffed. “I would have no personal understanding [of] why that would be necessary,” said Evers. “I can’t imagine why that’s happening and I would hope that we would be able to find a ... better way to have him get better and recover.”
