A man in Brisbane, Australia, hit the lottery for $1 million reportedly using numbers that his father used almost 50 years ago. The unnamed man hit the jackpot in the August 17 Gold lotto drawing with the numbers from his father.
The man issued a statement via the Lott, which is Australia’s official lottery, saying, “They’re my dad’s numbers. They’re some family birth dates and other numbers. My family’s been playing them for about 50 years.” The man said lottery officials called him at work to let him know about winning, which he didn’t believe at first. He said, “I thought for sure this was a practical joke. I just can’t believe this.”
The man reportedly kept playing the numbers 12, 37, 22, 10, 31, and 20 consistently, which is what led to him winning.
