A homeless Florida man wasn't homeless for two weeks after making a luxury suite at an empty stadium his humble abode. Daniel Albert Neja, 39, was arrested on Sunday at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, home of the Tampa Bay Rowdies professional soccer team. His secret spot was discovered after stadium workers found razors, used shaving cream containers and other personal items in the luxury suite.

According to St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez, “A cleaning crew went into one of these suites that no one had gone into for some time due to COVID-19 and noticed there were blankets and shaving cream and a razor,” adding, “Clearly someone had been living there.”

Police say Neja also took team merchandise. “He went into the merchandise store, he went into the food area,” said Fernandez. “So he was wearing the merchandise and just helping himself to food.” Surveillance footage showed Neja had been inside the suite since July 26. The New York Post reports Neja took " $1,043 in team merchandise and downed $250 worth of drinks."

Neja was charged with burglary and resisting an officer without violence. He remained in custody after failing to cover a $5,150 bond.
