Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B were met with criticism when they released the video for their collaborative project "WAP," with some saying the video and lyrics to the song were overtly sexual. While there are some people who feel like the video could've been toned down, Trina is not one of them, which she made clear during a recent interview with Complex.

When asked about her initial reaction to the "WAP" video, Trina said she thought it was "absolutely phenomenal." She also applauded Megan and Cardi for featuring up-and-coming artists in the video, including Mulatto and Rubi Rose, and Trina went on to say that there are some people who "can't handle" those types of music videos.

Trina stated, "It's not for everybody. If you're one of those that can't handle it, stay up under the rock. You do that. This is not the world for you. This is the world of extraordinary, and it's women being free of fear and saying what they feel like saying. This is the country of freedom of speech. Who is anybody to say what somebody shouldn't have came and said? Those that are, are the ones that want to say it, but they don't have the guts or the balls to say it."

This comes after CeeLo Green came under fire for comments he made about Megan, Cardi, Nicki, and other female artists with sexual lyrics and music videos. CeeLo told Far Out magazine that "A lot of music today is very unfortunate and disappointing on a personal and moral level." After adding that today's "music is shameless, it is sheer savagery," CeeLo stated that a big artist like Nicki Minaj Nicki "could be effective in so many other constructive ways, but it feels desperate." He also stated, "Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, they are all more or less doing similar salacious gesturing to kinda get into position. I get it, the independent woman and being in control, the divine femininity and sexual expression. I get it all. It comes at what cost?"

CeeLo later apologized for his comments, saying that they were taken out of context. He added, " I am an advocate of artistic freedom and expression as well as a fan of Nicki, Cardi, and Meagan." He went on to say, "I know most of them personally and consider Cardi and Offset family. Therefore, I would never disrespect them by any means. I acknowledge them as all powerful, beautiful, and influential women...and professionals. I wholeheartedly apologize to each of them for the inconvenience they have been caused due to a snippet of my interview being used as a headline, and in turn creating controversy and disconnect between me and these ladies as well as their fans."
