When Kanye West confirmed his decision to run for president, many feared his campaign would ultimately help Trump stay in office. Voters were especially fearful that West becoming a candidate would take the Black vote away from Joe Biden. However, recent poll numbers show that the rapper is nowhere near becoming America's next Commander-In-Chief nor is he much a threat to Biden's campaign.

In the latest poll results, Kanye West ranked at two percent overall support as well as the Black vote. Judging by these numbers, even if West's campaign was intended to pull votes away from Biden, he's failing to accomplish that goal. He currently ranks seven points behind the "no opinion" crowd and Biden's nine-point lead over Trump is unaffected whether West is on the ballot or not.

"I think a lot of people of color view Kanye’s bid for the presidency as a quixotic one, and they don’t see him as being legitimate for the office - it’s more of yet another Kanye publicity stunt," said Ron Christie, a Black Republican strategist for Politico. "Democrats traditionally get 90-plus percent of the black vote. I think a lot of people are going to look at Kanye and just say, 'I don’t think so.'"

It was previously reported that four Republicans were linked to Kanye West's attempt to get on the 2020 ballot. Democrats believe that West's Republican support is disingenuous, considering the music artist's mental state.

"I do think Kanye is, unfortunately, at the whims of folks who don’t have his, his daughter’s, his children’s best interests in mind with their policy," said Quentin James, executive director of The Collective PAC. "To be helping that, I think, is just sad. And I think they’re taking advantage of his mental health situation to be very honest."
