Each year the XXL Freshman List sparks debate across the Hip Hop community. Whether fans or artists themselves are praising who made the list or who got snubbed, the list is typically polarizing. One artist who's already taking issue with the newly revealed list is Detroit rap legend, Royce Da 5'9".

Taking to Instagram, Royce posted the list with a caption that read, "Next time y’all ask me to do a interview, Ima go missing like Detroit is from this blasphemous freshman cover @xxl," Royce wrote. "Still love y’all tho."

Royce's criticism is no surprise considering Detroit is his hometown. However, with Detroit artists like Sada Baby and 42 Dugg generating considerable buzz, it's likely the Slaughterhouse rapper isn't alone in his stance.
