Donald Trump was speaking earlier during a White House press conference when Secret Service agents alerted the president that an active shooter was outside the White House. Moments after being evacuated, Trump returned to the press room and informed reporters that an armed suspect was shot outside the White House.
In a statement released to CNBC, the Secret Service said they could "confirm there has been an officer-involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. Law enforcement officials are on the scene." Authorities say the man was shot in the chest and taken to a nearby hospital.
