Former NFL player for the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins—Derius Guice was released from the team after news surfaced, noting he was involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend. Now, details of the domestic violence have been revealed.

Court documents that surfaced noted in one of three incidents, the player reportedly choked his girlfriend unconscious. In an incident that allegedly went down on March 13, 2020, the girlfriend of Guice told police that Guice “strangle her until she was unconscious by putting his hands around her neck and applying pressure.”

The girlfriend sais Guice was “crying and tapping her” when she regained consciousness. Along with that, she claims Guice pulled her hair and pushed her a few times in that same day. The victim says she did not notice how badly she was battered until she looked at herself in a mirror at an airport before she was scheduled to catch a flight.

Guice was charged with destruction of property, felony strangulation, battery, and assault.

According to TMZ, NFL player Derrius Guice was arrested on domestic violence charges Friday. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Department told TMZ that Guice was arrested for one count of felony strangulation, three counts of assault and battery, and one count of destruction of property. The former LSU Tiger surrendered to authorities at 5 PM on Friday. Soon after, the "Washington Football Team" released Guice upon the news breaking of his surrender. "On Thursday we learned of a potential domestic violence-related incident involving RB Derrius Guice," Washington said in a statement on Friday. "We immediately alerted the National Football League and have continued to work with them during this process. We then met with Derrius to inform him that he was excused from all team activity pending a review of the matter." 

The statement continued, "This afternoon we learned that there were multiple charges filed against Derrius [...] Upon review of the nature of these charges ad following internal discussions, we have decided to release Derrius immediately." 

Authorities say they are still investigating three separate incidents involving Guice that allegedly took place Feb. 14, March 13, and April 17 at his home in Ashburn, Virginia. Guice was released after posting $10,000 unsecured bail.
