Update 08/10/2020 10:15am:

Previously, the mother of FBG Duck—LaSheena Weekly spoke at a press conference located at the site of her son’s death and asked friends and fans of her son not to retaliate to the death of her son. However, signs were put up by non-profit organization The Community Builders telling residents to be careful as concerns of a possible city-wide gang war was on the rise due to the shooting of FBG Duck.

The sign that surfaced said, “Chicago Police have expressed concerns of a possible city-wide gang war in retaliation for Tuesday’s Goldcoast shooting of Chicago rapper FBG Duck. Please be careful this weekend!” From there, the sign warned teens and young adults to stay inside whenever possible, and also pointed out areas of the city to avoid, as there could be possible activity. Take a look above.

Following the death of her son, FBG Duck's mother, LaSheena Weekly, spoke during a press conference at the site of his murder to rebuke retaliatory violence. "I am asking that his fans, friends of my son, to please not seek retaliation in the death of my son,” said Weekly. “As his mother, I want to say please put the guns down, so that the generation of tomorrow can grow and live long and healthy life," Weekly, who has now lost two children to gun violence, refuted mischaracterizations of her son as a gang member. “To assassinate his character as if he was this gang-banging thug, run around Chicago terrorizing communities, is an outright lie,” she said.

Deputy Chief Daniel O'Shea commended the FBG Duck's family on their call for peace. “We always worry about the retaliatory shootings,” said O'Shea. “It's nice to see the family come out here and call for peace, not just down here on Oak Street, but throughout the city.”
