According to reports, a male was shot by Chicago police while fleeing in Englewood on the South Side of Chicago. Police chased the suspect who they say is 20-years-old, and police said the incident started after officers responded to a call of someone with a gun in an alley near the 5700 block of South Racine. The cops said they saw a person who matched the description take off on foot, which is what led to the chase.

Chief Deputy Yolanda Talley said during the chase, the person who was believed to be in his teens allegedly turned around and fired shots at the police officers. From there, police responded with gunfire and allegedly hit the person in their head and back. Police noted they reportedly found the firearm that was discharged at officers. Since then, the suspect was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they remain in police custody. Their condition is unknown.

Since the shooting, many took to the streets of Downtown Chicago to loot and destroy property. The incidents that occurred in downtown started around 11 p.m. and ended early Monday morning. Stay tuned for more details on this situation.
