Video footage that surfaced shows the Ware State Prison near Waycross, Georgia, literally going up in flames as prisoners rioted. The riot broke out and reportedly left two staff members with non life-threatening injuries, while three inmates suffered injuries as well.

The Georgia Department of Corrections issued a statement on the matter, saying, “Two staff members received minor, non life-threatening injuries. A golf cart was set on fire, and several windows were broken, but no major damage to the facility has been reported. Officers deployed non-lethal ammunition, and the incident was brought under control.”

Officials from the prison noted the incident began around 10:40 p.m. and was contained by 1 a.m. after the prison was put on lockdown. Two of the guards were reportedly stabbed as a result of the riot. Along with that, officers in the prison had to deploy “non-lethal ammunition” on rioting inmates. Video footage that surfaced shows the “non-lethal ammunition” being fired, along with that multiple fires and inmates freely walking around in the melee. Watch above.
