A little under two weeks ago, Antonio Brown announced his retirement from the NFL via Twitter. While many were skeptical of Brown's announcement, it appeared that he chose to "retire" due to a lack of interest from organizations, league-wide. What is certain, Brown will not be playing for at least the first eight weeks of the season when play resumes. The NFL announced Antonio Brown's suspension on Friday for violating the personal conduct policy.
"Antonio Brown was notified today by NFL Special Counsel for Conduct Todd Jones that he has been suspended without pay for the first eight regular-season games of the 2020 season for multiple violations of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy," league officials said in a statement.
Last week, AB took to Instagram demanding that the NFL speed up the process for his "wellbeing." Brown wrote, "I have complied with each and every ask of your investigations throughout the past 11 months," adding, "You have had access to all of my phones, you know what the deal is in each and every situation that the media has distorted. I have been seeing the therapist you asked me to, I have worked on all aspects of my life this past year and have become a better man because of it. The fact that you refuse to provide a deadline and the reason for the fact you won’t resolve your investigations is completely unacceptable. I demand you provide me clarity on this situation immediately if you really care about my wellbeing."
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, "Antonio Brown has accepted his eight-week suspension and isn't expected to appeal, per source. So the soonest he could be back on the field is Week 9 ... though again, an additional suspension is possible depending what comes out in a pending civil case. Next hearing Sept. 15."
