Video footage surfaced recently of a stepfather and daughter who were the victims of a brutal attack by a group of people in a New York bodega located in Washington Heights. The attack went down on July 7, and the victims recently spoke about the situation.

The 22-year-old woman said the attack “came out nowhere,” and the footage shows the woman defending herself from a large group of men and women who were punching her and hitting her with beer bottles.

The woman said the incident went down after she was walking to the store, and a group of men she didn’t know started harassing her for allegedly trying to contact one of their girlfriends. From there, she decided to run into a store for help but was followed by a large group of people who began attacking her after they threw water on her. The woman’s stepfather saw her getting hit by the group and tried to help, but was beaten unconscious.

So far, police identified three of the suspects in the footage. The woman’s stepfather reportedly spent two days in the hospital as a result of the attack. Watch above.
