Ice Cube recently sat down to chop it up with The Breakfast Club, where he spoke about the current issues in the country, including police brutality and racism.
Charlamagne brought up N.W.A.'s "F*** the Police" stirring animosity with police, stating, "Cube, I have to say respectfully, a lot of that is N.W.A's fault and I'ma tell you why. People in the community don't want to be police cause ya'll said f*** the police, and people in the community don't respect the police because ya'll said f*** the police."
Cube then responded by saying, "Nah, you can't put that on N.W.A. People felt that way way before N.W.A. I grew up with people who felt that way. This goes back for centuries. It's a problem that needs to be fixed and it's not getting better. It's gotten the point where we can't live under these conditions. We can't do it and we going to change it, and they will change. Either they going to change or we're going to change them."
Ice Cube went on to speak about his "Contract for Black America," which is a detailed plan that addresses racism in America. He spoke about the importance of the document, which he admits isn't perfect, stating, "If you just do police reform, it’s just gonna be abuse picking up in other areas. We got to do not only police reform but justice reform and prison reform. The 13th Amendment still allows for slavery when it comes to being incarcerated. These things need to be fixed and it’ll start solving a lot of problems we have in America." You can hear more above.
