Update 07/20/2020 12:58pm:
Previously, news surfaced noting Kanye West’s run for president may have been shuttered after he tried to get his name on the ballot in Florida to no avail. West was looking to appear as a third-party candidate, and needed 132,781 voters to sign a petition to allow this by July 15. Now, news arrived, noting that West missed the deadline to get on the November 2020 ballot for South Carolina.
The news was revealed by the Director of Public Information for the South Carolina State Election Commission—Chris Whitmore. West needed to get 10,000 signatures to become a petition candidate, but the State Election Commission reportedly did not hear anything from West’s campaign. This past weekend, West took to Twitter to ask for signatures and even held a rally for his campaign that ended up going viral after his statement about Harriet Tubman.

Update 07/14/2020 7:32pm:
According to multiple reports, Kanye West's presidential campaign is officially over after an attempt to make a late run. Ye reportedly tried getting his name on the ballot in Florida but to no avail. His team worked tirelessly in Florida to gather up the necessary signatures in order for him to appear on the ballot as a third-party candidate. The deadline to get the 132,781 Florida voters to sign the petition is July 15.
Steve Kramer, a "get-out-the-vote" specialist, worked with Ye's team since he announced his presidential bid. But the false starts on Kanye's part aren't anything new for first-timers seeking elected office. “I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye,” said Kramer. “Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.” He continued, “any candidate running for president for the first time goes through these hiccups.”

Kanye West announcing his run for president sent many for a loop, as the announcement came out of nowhere. However, this was after West revealed he was no longer in support of Donald Trump. Despite his removal of support for the current president, Trump noted that West and his people are still in good standing. Now, a new poll surfaced, showing that West had 2% of voters out of a pool of 2,000 people.
A consulting firm named Redfield & Wilton Strategies released results from two polls they conducted this past week and showed that West had 2% of the votes in the poll. In the poll that didn’t feature Kanye, Biden had 48%, while Trump had 40% of voters.
In the poll that featured West, Biden had 48% percent, and Trump had 39% in the poll, which means West pulled away a percentage of voters from Trump. This comes after Chance the Rapper announced his support for Kanye West running for president, which he received backlash for.
