More news is surfacing in the incident that found 26-year-old EMT Breonna Taylor dead after three undercover cops burst into the young woman’s home during a botched raid. More details surfaced from a revised lawsuit by the family of Taylor, noting she was alive after being shot for almost five minutes and didn’t receive any type of medical care.

Taylor reportedly struggled to breathe and coughed for almost five minutes, according to Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor. In audio that surfaced from a police interview, Taylor’s boyfriend, who was present during the shooting, said: “(Police are) yelling like, 'Come out, come out,' and I'm on the phone with her (mom). I'm still yelling help because she's over here coughing and, like, I'm just freaking out.”

The Jefferson County coroner went against Walker’s recounting of the situation, saying Taylor allegedly died within a minute and could not be saved. However, there are not any records shown that an effort was made to save the young woman. Dispatch logs from the incident show that Taylor was shot at 12:43 a.m. by Louisville Police officers, and didn’t receive any medical attention for over 20 minutes.

In the revised lawsuit, attorneys Lonita Baker and Sam Aguiar said, “Breonna, who was unarmed in her hallway, was struck by several rounds of gunfire. She was not killed immediately. Rather, she lived for another five to six minutes before ultimately succumbing to her injuries on the floor of her home." Stay tuned for more details on this case.
