Kanye West made headlines after announcing his intention to campaign for the office of the presidency. However, according to CNN, the Chicagoan hasn't filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to become an actual presidential candidate. The election is just a mere four months away, but Ye would still need to collect a requisite number of signatures to appear on the ballot in November.

Not to mention, Kanye has already missed the deadline for most states to register as an independent candidate. While the likelihood of Ye actually mounting a successful presidential campaign in time for November's election, he can count on at least one non-familial vote. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said of Ye's announcement: "You have my full support!"

Ye initially said he'd be running for president in 2024 and while the pandemic and social discontent may have fast-tracked his Oval Office ambitions, without filing the proper paperwork to make the campaign official "Kanye 2020" can't be taken too seriously.
