According to reports, popular Bay Area rapper Young Curt, real name Curtis Denton Jr., died in a car crash on Monday in Contra Costa County, CA. The 27-year-old Antioch, CA native was involved in a rollover accident shortly after 2 AM. When authorities arrived they "found the victim lying on the dirt shoulder outside of a 2019 Dodge Charger," and was subsequently rushed to the hospital. However, Denton died from his injuries after arriving at the hospital.

Investigators concluded that Denton was speeding and struck the shoulder before his vehicle rolled over several times. It was also determined that Denton was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected through the sunroof.

After the news of Denton's passing hit social media, many Bay Area notables championed their fallen comrade. Kamaiyah tweeted, "Rest In Peace to Young Curt a Bay Area legend," followed by Guapdad 4000 who wrote, "RIP YOUNG CURT! A Bay Area Pioneer who never got his credit. He influenced slang & production from the bay all the way down to LA artists who got on the wave"
