June is Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community, and Nickelodeon revealed shocking information about one of their most popular characters, SpongeBob Squarepants.
Nickelodeon took to Twitter and posted that they are “Celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month.” Along with that, the brand posted artwork of various characters, including Korra of the show ‘Legend of Korra’, who was revealed to be bi-sexual in the show. The brand also included artwork of a rainbow version of SpongeBob, essentially indicating the character is a part of the community. News of this comes years after late SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg said the character is not gay, but asexual. Take a look above.
