According to reports and video footage that surfaced, a 27-year-old black man named Rayshard Brooks was shot by police in the parking lot of a Wendy’s this past Friday after struggling with the cops near the drive-thru.

In video footage that was recorded by a bystander, the 27-year-old could be seen lying lifeless as police hovered over him after firing shots at him. The incident reportedly stemmed from a complaint about the man who fell asleep in his vehicle, which caused other customers to go around the stopped car to get their food.

From there, Brooks was given a sobriety test that he allegedly failed. A spokeswoman from the GA Bureau of Investigation said, “After failing the test, the officers attempted to place the male subject into custody. During the arrest, the male subject resisted and a struggle ensued. The officer deployed a Taser.” Cellphone footage shows the man struggling with police after taking the taser away from the cops. As Brooks ran off from the police, he was fatally shot. The GBI spokeswoman revealed that Brooks was taken to the hospital and died later. Stay tuned for more details on this situation.
