According to multiple reports, Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is pushing for players to skip resuming the season to take a stand against social injustice. Irving led the call of 80 current NBA players which included, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Donovan Mitchell, and Dwight Howard. During the hour-long call, the players discussed possibly skipping the resumption, with Irving reportedly saying, “I’m willing to give up everything I have [for social reform].” Irving continued, “I don’t support going into Orlando,” adding, “I’m not with the systematic racism and the bulls–t. Something smells a little fishy.”

While Irving pushed for players to use this opportunity to make a social stand, he ultimately concluded by imploring everyone to be on the same page whether they decide to play or not. One player expressed appreciation for Irving's effort. “He’s trying to give players a platform to be able to have a discussion — on the bubble, racial equality, and unity. … It’s a good call,” the anonymous player told ESPN.
