Recently, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture invited African-Americans to settle in Ghana if they feel they are unwanted in the United States.

While at a collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, Office of Diaspora Affairs and the Diaspora African Forum, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi spoke on the death of George Floyd and said she hopes the murder of Floyd can put an end to racism in the U.S. and across the world.

Gyasi said, “We continue to open our arms and invite all our brothers and sisters home. Ghana is your home. Africa is your home. We have our arms wide open ready to welcome you home. Please take advantage, come home, build a life in Ghana, you do not have to stay where you are not wanted forever, you have a choice, and Africa is waiting for you.” This comes after Ghana launched an initiative last year called “Year of the Return” that opened up the country to Africans in the diaspora.
