Previously, news surfaced that William Bryan Jr.—the man who filmed the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, was arrested for felony murder. Bryan tried to do interviews after the video footage went viral to try and note that he didn’t have anything to do with the murder. However, news surfaced that Bryan did more than he led people to believe in interviews, which resulted in him being taken into custody by police.
According to investigators, Bryan was arrested because he reportedly used his vehicle to “confine and detain” Ahmaud Arbery moments before the 25-year-old was shot dead by Gregory and Travis McMichael.
GBI director Vic Reynolds issued a statement on the arrest, saying “If we believed [William Bryan Jr.] was a witness we wouldn't have arrested him.”

William "Roddie" Bryan, the man behind the camera who recorded the de facto lynching of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery, has been taken into police custody. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest on Thursday and confirmed that Bryan faces charges of felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
According to the GBI, Bryan will be booked and housed at Glynn County Jail. Bryan's arrest comes on the heels of his mini-media tour looking to absolve himself of any wrongdoing. The attorneys for Ahmaud's parents spoke with TMZ following the arrest. S. Lee Merritt, Benjamin Crump and L. Chris Stewart said in a joint statement:
"We called for his arrest from the very beginning of this process. His involvement in the murder of Mr. Arbery was obvious to us, to many around the country and after their thorough investigation, it was clear to the GBI as well."
The legal team added that Ahmaud's family is "thankful for the diligence of the GBI and the way in which they tirelessly pursued the evidence in this case."
