The spread of coronavirus has found states being put on lockdown to contain the situation, and the spread has also seen many lives lost as well. The overwhelming loss of lives due to coronavirus has found hospitals, funeral homes, and morgues resorting to using food trucks to store human bodies. Now, the Food and Drug Administration has reportedly released a guide on how to clean food transport vehicles that were rented for “preservation of human remains” related to coronavirus patients.

The guide pointed out that any truck “permeated by offensive odors that cannot be eliminated through cleaning and disinfecting,” are vehicles that should be abandoned.

The FDA’s guide spoke on usage for the food trucks after having COVID-19 bodies place inside of them, saying “Refrigerated food transport vehicles and refrigerated food storage units used for the temporary preservation of human remains during the COVID-19 pandemic subsequently can be safely used for food transport and food storage under certain circumstances.”

However, the FDA issued a warning in that same statement, saying, “It is important that food is protected during transport and storage to ensure food is safe for humans and animals and that conditions do not exist that may adulterate the food. Before returning to service to transport or store human or animal food, refrigerated food transport vehicles and refrigerated food storage units used to hold human remains during the COVID-19 pandemic should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected."
