In February 2020, New York rapper Pop Smoke was gunned down at a rental home in Los Angeles in what was initially thought to be a home invasion gone wrong. News eventually surfaced noting his death was allegedly the result of a targeted hit and not a botched robbery. However, police reportedly have run into a roadblock, as coronavirus has been preventing them from getting to the case.

Since the rapper’s untimely death months ago, LAPD has been investigating the murder, but the spread of coronavirus has caused them to push their time and resources towards COVID-19. Detectives on the case noted they’re able to make attempts to speak to people face-to-face in a safe manner, but still aren’t gaining any ground as they “have no neutral witnesses.” Along with that, law enforcement noted that people have been providing unreliable information. Investigators are allegedly looking to Pop Smoke’s posthumous album release to create new leads and tips in the murder case. Stay tuned for more details in this case.
