According to reports, legendary singer Betty Wright has passed away at the age of 66. Two days before Wright’s death being revealed, Chaka Khan took to Twitter to ask for prayers related to the singer. Chaka said, “Calling all my #PrayWarriors. My beloved sister, Betty Wright @MsBettyWright, is now in need of all your prayers." Betty Wright’s niece confirmed the passing of her aunt, and no cause of death has been revealed as of now.

The Miami, Florida-born singer is known for her songs like “Clean Up Woman,” “Tonight Is The Night,” and “Where Is The Love,” which she won a Grammy for in 1972. She also popularized the term “no pain, no gain,” after recording a song by that same title. The singer reportedly launched her own record label in the 80s and ended up with a gold record for “Mother Wit.” The album went gold, which marked the first time a black woman in the singing space went gold on their own label.

Betty Wright is survived by four children. Rest in peace and condolences to the family of Betty Wright.
