Update 04/19/2020 1:41pm:

Previously, a Jamaican appeals court upheld the murder conviction for Vybz Kartel. Since then, it was revealed that a change in the sentence for the legendary Jamaican artist occurred.

Vybz Kartel’s lawyer Bert Samuels said, “The trial judge fell in error by not taking into account the time spent in reprimand, which is a breach of principle. So, I am pleased that the court has decided to reduce the sentences by two-and-a-half years.” Kartel’s previous sentence found him serving 35 years. The new sentence has reduced his time to 32 years and six months. In 2046, Vybz will be released at the age of 70.

Original 04/04/2020 12:00am:

According to Billboard, a Jamaican appeals court upheld the murder conviction of music star Vybz Kartel stemming from a 2014 ruling. The local press released a 235-page opinion piece by appeals officials on the reasoning for Vybz denial as well as the affirmation of convictions for his co-defendants.

Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, was convicted of the 2011 murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams, whose body was never found. The appeals judges decided that despite the absence of Williams' body, the jury considered mountains of evidence and witness testimony compelling enough to warrant Palmer's and his co-defendants remaining incarcerated.

Vybz attorney is reportedly planning to appeal the decision.
